1. Wood vs Carbon
Â
Wood Ringette Sticks
Wood sticks offer a traditional, durable feel and are ideal for beginners learning fundamentals. They are slightly heavier and more affordable, making them a great starting option.

Â
Carbon (Composite) Ringette Sticks
Carbon sticks are lighter, more responsive, and built for performance. They provide quicker release and better energy return for stronger, faster shots.

Â
If you're developing your game or competing at a higher level, carbon is typically the better choice.
Â
2. Low Kick vs Mid Kick Point
Â
Low Kick Point
Bends closer to the tip for faster release. Ideal for a quick release.
Ring-Jet Hurricane Slim - Athena Blackout - Ring-Jet Rocket
Â
Mid Kick Point
Bends higher on the shaft for balanced power and control.
Â
If you rely on speed and quick release, go low kick. If you want balanced power and versatility, go mid kick.
Â
3. What Flex Should You Use?
Â
Flex refers to how much the stick bends when you shoot.
Lower flex <30 = easier to bend = quicker release - JUNIOR STICKS
Mid flex 40-50 = easy to bend = quick release - INTERMEDIATE STICKS
Higher flex 60+ = stiffer = more power potential - SENIOR STICKS
Â
Flex ≈ Half your body weight (in pounds)
Example:
120 lbs → ~60 flex
If you can’t bend the stick, you can’t load it properly.
Â
4. How Stick Length Affects Flex & Performance
Â
Choosing the right stick height is just as important as selecting the correct flex.Â
Your stick should generally reach:
Beginner/Younger players: Underarm, standing on skates
Competitive players: Top of shoulder on flat feet
Â
| Â
Important: Cutting Does NOT Change Flex Unlike hockey sticks, cutting a ringette stick shorter does not meaningfully change the flex. Ringette sticks are designed primarily for passing, receiving, and ring control, not for shooting mechanics that rely on shaft flex. Because of this:

So Which Ringette Stick is Made for You?
Â
The Foundation Player

Â
Designed for players developing their foundation, wooden sticks help build control, touch, and confidence. Their solid construction provides a consistent, steady feel — perfect for learning the game properly before stepping into high-performance carbon options. At the same time, many experienced players simply prefer the traditional feel only wood can offer.
